Wrinkle Reduction

We focus on two areas of Facial Aesthetics: Wrinkle Reduction and Dermal Fillers.

Wrinkle Reduction – also known as the Botox® Treatment – involves the injection of very small doses of a “botulinum neurotoxin” into the small muscles of the face. This blocks nerve signal transmission to these muscles, allowing them to relax (partly or completely) and thus removing wrinkles.

While Botox is the more popular name for this drug, there are several others. We prefer Xeomin® and our patients love it! Think of it this way – we may have learned to drive a long time ago on a car that is now 50 years old, but that doesn’t mean we can’t or shouldn’t enjoy the comfort and convenience of a new model. My first car was a 1965 Ford Pick-up; it was cool. However, I don’t think I want to drive that pick-up now.

Try Xeomin – you will love the difference!

Effects take place in a few days to a week, and last for six to nine months. Very rarely does a patient experience an unwanted side-effect – but it can happen.

Most common areas are:

  • The wrinkles between your eyes (Frown Lines)
  • Wrinkles of the forehead
  • The “crow’s feet” around your eyes when you smile

Dermal Fillers

Dermal Filler refers to the placement of a natural product that attracts water under the skin to plump out deep wrinkles, or in the lips or cheek to enhance fullness. These have been used in Europe and the US for decades, but have gained much popularity in the past 10 years.
Most of these products are made from hyaluronic acid, naturally found in our tissues. Placement is easy, but can be a mildly painful. We provide a numbing agent to make it much more tolerable, and most of the fillers now contain lidocaine, which is a common numbing agent itself.

Commonly treated areas are:
Nasolabial folds (Nose to lips) and the smoker’s lines around the mouth
Lip
Cheeks
Chin

We only use hyaluronic acid-based fillers because they are so easy to work with and patients experience the difference immediately. You can reasonably expect them to last 6 to 9 months. We prefer to numb the area to be treated to reduce the pain, but not everyone wants or needs that.

We always take pictures before treatment, then again a few weeks later – just so you can see the difference.
