Accident and Injury Treatment

Whether you have been injured in a car or boating accident, on the job, or while out playing, we can help.  The team here includes acute pain management, physical therapy, massage, acupuncture, and chiropractic medicine.

Acute Pain Management

“Acute” pain refers to the pain after and during the normal healing period for an injury.  That might be a couple of days or a couple of months.  Regardless of the injury or how long you have been dealing with it, you will heal faster and more completely if the pain is moderated.

At Copper Valley, we don’t prescribe addictive medications.  There are other choices for treatment that provide safe, fast, effective pain relief.

  • Multi-disciplinary Treatments
    • Pain Injections with non-addictive medications
    • Chiropractic and Physical Therapy
      • Electrical Stimulation
      • Cold LASER
      • Shock Wave
      • TENS
      • Manipulation/Adjustments
    • Acupuncture
    • Massage Therapy

Chronic Pain Management

Injury to muscles, bone, joints, and nerves may not heal quickly or completely.  This results in long-term or Chronic Pain.  This may be not only debilitating but may also lead to a sense of hopelessness, anxiety, and depression. Many people with chronic pain find it difficult to lead productive lives, to work at a profession they have trained long and hard to achieve, to maintain positive relationships with loved ones.

  • Common Types of Chronic Pain
    • Low Back Pain – Sometimes this results from an inadvertent injury caused by lifting something incorrectly, or from a fall, or a car accident or any of a dozen other things.  Sometimes, back pain comes from a genetic condition.  Regardless, this can be terribly debilitating.
    • Joint Pain – Shoulder, knee, ankle, wrist, elbow… so easy to injure and so challenging to restore to health.
      • Arthritis – Besides an injury to a joint, pain may result from damage caused by arthritis.  There are several types of arthritis:
        • Osteoarthritis – Joint damage caused by “wear and tear.”  Typically, this occurs in one of the “paired” joints, such as the right knee only, or the left ankle.  It starts with an injury and is made worse by continuing inflammation.
        • Rheumatoid – Joint damage resulting from an autoimmune disorder.  Literally, your own immune system is attacking joints.  This is usually characterized by pain in certain “paired” joints.
        • Gouty – Joint damage – commonly to a joint in one of the Great Toes – caused by improper metabolism of uric acid wastes.  This is the so-called “Disease of Kings” because it may be linked to a diet of rich foods.
        • Psoriatic – Joint damage linked to psoriasis.  While an auto-immune disorder, this is different from rheumatoid arthritis.
    • Neck Pain – Medically knowns as “cervicalgia” this may be the result of displacement or fracture of the vertebrae in the neck, disc herniation, or other issues.
    • Fibromyalgia – This is characterized by pain in several to many skeletal muscles in all parts of the body.  We diagnose this by assessing “jump points.”
    • Peripheral Neuropathy – This pain feels like a burning in the nerves of the lower extremities.  Some patients describe it as ‘walking on hot coals.’  There are several causes of peripheral neuropathy:
      • Diabetes, Type II – There are many problems that trace their origin to diabetes.  One key is to control diabetes, to keep the PN from getting worse.
      • Chemotherapy – Sometimes, along with destroying cancer cells, chemo also damages nerves.
