Dr. Selvey graduated from the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Tempe, Arizona, after a career in the medical device industry. He first earned an undergraduate degree in Biology from Arizona State University, followed by a graduate degree, also from Arizona State, in physiology; his research was on Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
Initially, Dr. Selvey worked in public health, starting as a "health inspector" then after training with CDC, became an epidemiologist with the Arizona Department of Health Services. He first trained in infectious diseases, followed by environmental medicine focusing on environmental toxins such as pesticides, heavy metal poisonings, and aflatoxin.
During this time, Dr. Selvey chose to devote some of his time to teaching courses in Public Health and had several papers published in medical journals.
Later, Dr. Selvey worked with a start-up medical device company in greater Los Angeles, Ca. that was focused on the precision delivery of insulin to persons with Type I diabetes. He helped to develop external insulin pumps and supplies, the implantable insulin pump, and the continuous glucose monitoring system.
More recently, Dr. Selvey has consulted with medical device companies designing new implants for hand, wrist and ankle surgery, wound healing, and craniomaxillofacial reconstruction.
Dr. Selvey remains a visiting professor of Anatomy & Physiology at a major university, teaching future healthcare professionals the basic science of medicine.

Naturopathic physicians choose the least invasive and least toxic treatments necessary for each patient.
Naturopathic doctors recognize the body’s inherent ability to heal itself.
Naturopathic doctors identify, address and remove the underlying causes of disease.
Educating and supporting patients on personal health management is an important role for naturopathic doctors. They empower patients to take responsibility for their own health. They also acknowledge the therapeutic value inherent in the doctor-patient relationship.
This is a holistic concept that recognizes the body as an integrated whole. Naturopathic doctors treat the patient, not the disease. A naturopathic assessment addresses the nutritional status, lifestyle, family history, physical, mental, emotional, genetic, environmental and social factors in a person’s life.
Naturopathic doctors promote a focus on overall health, wellness and disease prevention.
