When our clothes are wrinkled we can throw them in the dryer for another cycle. Don't we wish we could do that with face wrinkles?
Fortunately for all of us, there are better ways to smooth out the wrinkles.
Are you aware of your options for reducing wrinkles? Most people have heard of Botulinum Toxin medications by various names, such as Botox, the product produced by Allergan, Inc. We (and our patients) prefer Xeomin (pronounced Zee-o-men), which works very quickly, is just as effective and lasts just as long. It is from Merz, a European pharmaceutical company.
Xeomin is administered just under the skin with a very fine needle. It leaves a "bee-sting" like bump for a few hours. The wrinkles (forehead, crow's feet, etc.) begin to lessen in a few days to a week. The effect lasts for months.
Prices vary depending on the product, but will be somewhere around $10.00 to $12.00 per unit. Most people prefer about 35 to 40 units on the initial visit. If you find you need a touch-up in a couple weeks, we'll discount the fee substantially - we want you to be thrilled with your new look.
Xeomin is different from the other botulinum toxins because the manufacturing process adds a secondary purification step. This helps to reduce the chances of a reaction - and that may require an explanation.
All of the neuromodulators are based on the Botulinum toxin. Xeomin is the only one that is uniquely purified for best results.
Dermal fillers are used to plump out deeper wrinkles, such as those between the nostrils and lips (the nasolabial fold). Dermal fillers are also used to plump out the lips, providing a fuller look.
We will only use fillers that are made from hyaluronic acid, which exists in your skin naturally. Our preferred product is Revanesse Versa+, from Prollenium. The effect lasts for six to nine months, although the effect is immediate.
This is the product used to plump up the lips and to add volume to the cheeks and chin. It is super fast, easy and painless. (Okay, not really painless, but the pain is only temporary.)
Most skin tags can be removed quickly and nearly painlessly. Unless you prefer not, we will first numb the area of the skin tag then remove it. Easy!
Moles must first be evaluated to be sure it isn't a form of skin cancer (which only a dermatologist can safely remove).
